Evil Dead
I'd always thought that my not having seen this was a fault, that this was one of those demographic standards I'd somehow missed. I'd assumed the reason so many people liked it was that it's schlocky-good (like Spiceworld); turns out it's because it's so-bad-it's-good (like Plan Nine from Outer Space).Totally missable. Anyone want to provide an apologia?

Seton Sealy (?) has since pointed out to me that the schlocky-fun movie I'd had in mind may have been 'Evil Dead 2.' That the first one is straight up, and the second one a self-conscious romp.
I don't know that I'm interested enough to bother to find out.

Is this the one where they're in the house in the woods, and the camera hurtles through the forest? 'cuz that was pretty scary to me when I saw it.

Were you 9 when you saw it? Because then it probably would have been pretty scary. Maybe I'm a production-value-slut, but I didn't find a single moment of this to be scary, though I found the moment when a tree rapes a nubile girl to be borderline offensive.
